Changing Channel Group Association
You can change the group associated with any channel to a different group.
Key Information
Firmware < 2.301:
Two default groups: Group 1 and Group 2.
Channels can sample without being in a group.
Firmware ≥ 2.301:
Six default groups: Group 1 to Group 6.
Serial and analog channels must be in a group to sample.
For digital channels, refer to Digital Channel Advanced Configuration for details.
Steps to Change a Channel’s Group
In the left pane, click Devices.
In the Sites Tree pane, select the device.
In the right pane, click the Configuration tab to view the Stream Management Table.
Ensure Data Streams is selected in the top-right dropdown menu.
Locate the channel in the table and note its Type (e.g., Serial) and # (e.g., 3).
Configure the channel’s group in Advanced Device Configuration: a. Scroll below the Stream Management Table and click Advanced Device Configuration. b. Expand the node corresponding to the channel type (e.g., Serial). c. Expand the CHANNEL node. d. Expand the node corresponding to the channel number (e.g., 3). e. Click the group node and select Set Setting. f. Enter the new group value.
For analog channels, refer to Analog Channel Advanced Configuration.
For serial channels, refer to Serial Channel Advanced Configuration.
For digital channels, refer to Digital Channel Advanced Configuration.
Save and reboot: a. Save the configuration changes. b. Verify the reboot:
Go to the Commands tab in the right pane.
If no Reboot command appears, manually reboot by clicking Actions > Reboot in the Device Information pane.
Note: Changes and reboot take effect after the device's next communication with the server.
