Replacing the Wavelet Battery

Before your battery needs replacement, a configurable technical alert will notify designated user group(s) by SMS, email, or voice alert so you can prepare.

Important:

  • Battery replacement for Wavelet Ex™ must be done outside hazardous areas.

  • Use only Wavelet Ex™-approved batteries for this model.

Battery Life & Status Streams

  • Devices with Firmware v2.234 or later:

    • Have a Battery Life stream showing an empirical percentage of remaining battery life.

  • Devices with older firmware or Wavelet 3™:

    • Have a Battery Status stream (estimated percentage).

Prerequisites

  • Torque screwdriver

  • New battery (do not reuse old batteries)

  • Reset battery status in Fleet (Partner role required) or AyyekaGo app

  • Clean, dry work environment and protection against static discharge.

Replacement Steps

  • Ensure your hands and device are dry; prevent static discharge.

Battery Step 1
  • Place the device face down on a stable, dry surface with connectors pointing down.

Battery Step 2
  • Partially unscrew 6 back-panel screws until the panel can be lifted off (keep screws in place).

    • Tip: Loosen screws manually before using an electric screwdriver.

Battery Step 3
  • Remove back panel and place flat-side down.

    • Warning: Do not remove the rubber gasket; it is thin and not glued.

Battery Step 4
  • Switch ON/OFF on interface board to OFF.

Battery Step 5
  • Disconnect old battery connector; mark old battery as Used and dispose of properly.

Battery Step 6
  • Mark the new battery with the current date. Connect it to the interface board.

    • Wavelet 4R: Green LED blinks (1 long + 1 short) x 3 times.

    • Other models: Green, red, and blue LEDs blink briefly (connection confirmed).

Battery Step 7
  • Switch ON/OFF back to ON.

    • Device performs a 10-minute calibration and resumes normal mode.

Battery Step 8
  • Replace back panel:

    • Ensure battery cable is not pinched.

    • Ensure gasket is in place (missing gasket voids water/dust damage coverage).

Battery Step 9
  • Tighten 6 screws to 1 Nm torque.

    • Do not over-tighten to avoid stripping threads.

  • Reset battery status:

    • UI Option:

      • Devices → Select Device → Actions → Reset Battery Life

      • OR Fleet → Select Device → Set Action → Reset Battery Life

    • AyyekaGo App:

      • Connect → More → Reset Battery Life

The device is now ready to resume normal operations.
