Using the WaveCam App

The WaveCam App integrates device-captured images with sensor data, enabling:

  • Overlay of sensor data with camera frames for precise monitoring

  • Creation of time-lapse videos showing images and sensor data before and during events

  • Download or sharing of time-lapse videos with other users

Prerequisites

  • You must have the Account Administrator role.

  • The camera feature must be enabled. Contact support if it is not visible in the UI.

  • A camera stream must be configured for a device.

  • Device firmware must be _CAMR_v2.366 or newer. Devices can have up to 8 digital channels, including the camera channel.


Create a WaveCam App

  1. In the left pane of the WaveCam section

  2. Click Actions, then select Add a New App

  3. In the Add a New App window, select:

    • Application Type

    • Name

    • Site

    • Camera Stream (only camera-related streams will appear)

  4. Click Save. The new camera app will appear.


Configure WaveCam in the FAI UI

  1. In the left pane, click Applications > Camera

  2. Click Actions to open the Configure Site for Camera window

  3. Select the Site and keep other parameters as default unless modifications are needed

  4. Click Create


View and Use Camera Frames

  1. In the left pane, click Applications > Camera

  2. From the Account dropdown, select the account to which the app belongs

    • The list of apps displays

    • The timestamp of the last frame appears at the top of each app

  3. Click the required app to display captured frames

    • If no frames exist in the past 7 days, a message displays: “No images were found for the selected time period.”

    • Use an earlier range (up to 7 days) to view older frames

  4. Overlay sensor data (optional):

    • Click the cogwheel icon in the upper-right corner

    • Select streams to overlay values alongside camera images

    • Click Save to display the graph and images

    • Use the graph slider to view sensor values for each frame

  5. Change time range (optional):

    • Use the dropdown in the upper-left corner to set a custom range (max 7 days)

  6. Replay the images (optional):

    • Click the Auto Play icon and select the replay speed

  7. Create a time-lapse video (optional):

    • Click Create Timelapse Video

    • Select start and end frames (intermediate ones are grayed out)

    • (Optional) Filter by time range (e.g., 10:00 PM – 06:00 AM for nighttime images)

    • To download or create Picture-in-Picture:

      • Click the three-dot menu and select Download or Picture in Picture

    • To share the video: click the Copy Link icon


Delete or Rename a WaveCam App

  1. In the left pane, click Applications > Camera

  2. From the Account dropdown, select the account with the app

  3. Select the app you want to modify

  4. Click the cogwheel icon in the upper-right corner

  5. To delete, click Delete

  6. To rename:

    • Enter a new name in the Name field

    • Click Save


Download a Time-Lapse Video

  1. In the left pane, click Devices > Tasks

  2. Use the Search field to locate the video (e.g., search for “cam”)

  3. Hover over the video name and click to preview

  4. In the left-most column:

    • Click the video name to download
