Replacing Desiccants

Four desiccant bags are placed inside the device to remove moisture. If the Internal Humidity stream exceeds a configurable threshold, an alert is sent to designated user group(s).

Note: The electronics in the Wavelet Ex™ are fully potted, so no desiccants need to be replaced in that model.

Important Notes

  • Ensure the top enclosure is dry.

  • During battery replacement or external power use, wipe the upper enclosure with a soft cloth.

  • In humid environments, check and dry the enclosure periodically.

  • Dispose of desiccants in regular waste.

Prerequisites

  • Torque screwdriver

  • Work in a clean, dry environment

  • Ensure your hands and the device are completely dry

  • Protect against static discharge

Replacement Steps

  • Place the device face down on a dry, stable surface with connectors pointing downward.

Dessicants Step 1
  • Partially unscrew the six screws on the back panel until you can lift it off (keep screws in place).

    • Tip: Loosen manually before using an electric screwdriver.

Dessicants Step 2
  • Remove the back panel and place it flat-side down.

    • Warning: Do not remove the rubber gasket in the panel rim; it’s thin and not glued.

Dessicants Step 3
  • Move the ON/OFF switch on the interface board to OFF.

Dessicants Step 4
  • Replace the old desiccants with new ones.

Dessicants Step 5
  • Move the ON/OFF switch back to ON.

    • Device performs a 10-minute calibration, then resumes normal mode.

Dessicants Step 6
  • Reinstall the back panel. Ensure:

    • The battery cable is neatly arranged and not pinched.

    • The rubber gasket is in place. Missing gaskets void water/dust damage coverage.

Dessicants Step 7
  • Tighten all six screws to 1 Nm torque.

    • Do not over-tighten to avoid stripping screw threads.
